Galvion Nears Quarter-Million Helmet Orders as NATO Demand Accelerates
Gdansk, Poland – Galvion reported surging demand for its Batlskin Caiman head system, with 225,000 helmets ordered by publicly disclosed customers and additional undisclosed and pending orders expected to push total volumes beyond 250,000 in the near term. The company’s expansion in Europe, including a new production hub in Poland and a UK manufacturing partnership, aims to support NATO and partner nation procurement through the NSPA framework.
Orders Climb Across NATO and Partner Nations
Galvion said customers from countries already made public have collectively placed orders for 225,000 helmets. With further undisclosed and pending orders, the company expects volumes to exceed 250,000 units shortly. The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) framework contract, which streamlines acquisition for NATO members and partner nations, has included Galvion’s Batlskin Caiman head system since December 2022.
To qualify for the NSPA framework, the helmet system underwent comprehensive user trials under the supervision of the NSPA standards authority, ensuring compliance with NATO procurement criteria and operational requirements.
Galvion CEO Todd Stirtzinger said: “Our primary goal at Galvion is to empower the missions of operators around the world. As a team, we are incredibly proud to see so many of our head systems fielded across NATO, whether through the NSPA framework or other official programme contracts, and we look forward to supplying existing and new customers through additional orders.”
Expanded European Manufacturing Footprint
In response to rising demand, Galvion has opened a new production hub in Gdansk, Poland. The facility employs more than 70 specialists and handles helmet assembly and finishing, alongside maintenance, refurbishment, upgrades, and training services. To further bolster capacity and regional responsiveness, the company has also established a production partnership with a UK-based manufacturer.
“We have invested heavily in an expanded global production footprint and are continuously evaluating opportunities to support our growing NATO and wider EU customer base. Our regional production strategy strengthens supply chain resilience and ensures that our European and NATO customers have reliable access to our best-in-class equipment, when and where they need it,” Todd Stirtzinger added.
Product Features: Batlskin Caiman Head System
The Batlskin Caiman helmet line is available in five sizes and incorporates Galvion’s latest APEX lining system, designed for a customizable fit and improved stability for visual augmentation devices. The system supports integration with electronics, communication headsets, and other mission-critical accessories, addressing both current and anticipated operational needs across NATO and partner forces.
Procurement and Trials Under NSPA
The NSPA framework facilitates centralized procurement for NATO members and partner nations, enabling faster acquisition and standardized evaluation. Galvion’s inclusion since December 2022 follows rigorous user trials overseen by the NSPA standards authority, underscoring the system’s compliance with technical benchmarks and field performance criteria.
Recent Contracts and Regional Orders
- Canada: In July 2025, the Canadian Department of National Defence placed a second follow-on order for 5,000 Batlskin Caiman helmets.
- Middle East: Galvion reported 35,000 head systems ordered by customers in the region during the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
These orders add to a pipeline supported by both direct program awards and the NSPA framework, reflecting broad adoption of the Caiman head system across multiple theatres and mission types.
What’s Next
With orders approaching 250,000+ units and European manufacturing now live, Galvion is positioned to scale deliveries to NATO and EU customers while maintaining supply chain resilience.
