Led by a new generation of family entrepreneurs, Turkey’s GM Defensive is redefining military mobility technology and entering NATO and U.S. contracting markets with its field-proven Run-Flat Tire Changing Machines.
When most people think of defense contractors, they picture sprawling industrial giants or multinational conglomerates. Few imagine a family-run workshop from Turkey quietly shaping how modern armored vehicles stay mobile under pressure.
Yet that’s precisely the story of GM Defensive, a company that has transformed from a domestic engineering firm into a global defense supplier operating across three continents — Turkey, Italy, and the United States.
A Legacy Forged in Engineering
The roots of GM Defensive stretch back to 1985, when Anadolu Technical Industries was founded to produce spare parts and mechanical systems for Turkey’s defense sector.
Its founding mission was straightforward but ambitious: to strengthen national self-reliance by reducing foreign dependency in defense logistics and maintenance.
Within just a few years, the company became an official supplier to the Turkish Armed Forces, earning a reputation for reliability and technical precision — values that would later define GM Defensive’s identity on a global stage.
The Birth of a Game-Changing Machine
The turning point came in 2010, when the company’s engineers developed a new technology that would reshape its future — the Run-Flat Tire Changing Machine.
For military operators, tire maintenance might seem like a minor detail — until a blown tire halts an armored convoy in a combat zone. GM Defensive’s system, engineered to install and remove heavy-duty run-flat inserts from armored vehicle tires, changed that equation.
What once took hours in unsafe field conditions could now be done in under 45 minutes. The technology quickly gained attention across NATO-aligned forces, becoming a standard tool for maintaining 4×4, 6×6, and 8×8 military vehicles.
Today, GM Defensive’s Run-Flat machines are deployed in more than 70 locations across 34 countries, serving users that include the U.S. Army, Textron Systems, Rheinmetall, and UN peacekeeping missions.
A New Generation, A Global Vision
Behind this expansion is a second-generation leadership story — one that blends tradition with global ambition.
The founder’s daughter, an entrepreneur with a modern vision for defense industry growth, began steering the company toward international integration and strategic contracting. Her approach was clear: maintain the family’s engineering DNA, but operate with the agility of a multinational firm.
That strategy came to life with the founding of Genesis Mechanics S.R.L. in Italy (2019), serving as GM Defensive’s European contracting and engineering hub.
Working directly with the Italian Ministry of Defense, Genesis Mechanics built bridges between European procurement authorities and industrial suppliers — a move that positioned the group as a trusted partner in NATO-aligned supply chains.
Crossing the Atlantic: NX Defense and U.S. Expansion
The group’s global evolution continued in 2024 with the establishment of NX Defense in the United States.
NX Defense was created to serve as GM Defensive’s strategic contractor interface within the U.S. Department of Defense ecosystem. Operating in compliance with SAM.gov registration and focused on non-ITAR-controlled NATO-standard technologies, the company is now entering active U.S. contracting opportunities — bringing European engineering precision to the American defense market.
This move reflects not just expansion, but integration: a coordinated network that connects engineering, production, and contracting capabilities across continents.
From Turkey to the World
Today, the GM Defensive Group operates as a unified defense ecosystem:
GM Defensive (Turkey)
Core R&D and production center for military tire systems and smart maintenance solutions.
Genesis Mechanics (Italy)
European governmental contracting and logistics hub.
NX Defense (USA)
Strategic liaison and contractor network within the American defense supply chain.
Together, they provide comprehensive solutions in run-flat technologies, armored vehicle support, and maintenance automation — all fully compliant with NATO and ISO standards.
Engineering, but Also Family
What makes GM Defensive stand out in an industry defined by scale and secrecy is not just its technology — it’s its culture.
Still family-owned, the company runs on values inherited from its founder: trust, integrity, and resilience. The current leadership represents not only a generational handover, but also a rare example of female entrepreneurship in the global defense industry — a sector long dominated by state enterprises and legacy conglomerates.
“We grew up around machines and soldiers,” she reflects. “But what I learned is that defense manufacturing is ultimately about people — about trust. We’ve kept that human spirit at the core of our business, even as we expanded globally.”
Global Recognition and the Road Ahead
With a growing list of international users and expanding contractor visibility, GM Defensive has entered a new phase — one defined by strategic partnerships, digital readiness, and operational trust.
The group’s technologies continue to evolve toward smarter, more data-driven maintenance systems, aligning with modern defense goals of speed, interoperability, and lifecycle efficiency.
And as military procurement shifts toward agile, globally connected suppliers, GM Defensive’s journey — from a Turkish family workshop to a NATO-standard manufacturer — stands as a case study in how heritage and innovation can coexist.
“From Turkey to Italy to the U.S., we’ve proven that you don’t need to be a giant to have global impact,” says the company’s leadership. “You just need precision, purpose, and perseverance.”
