The evaluation aims to assess the suitability of the SMASH 3000 as part of the dismounted interim counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) ensemble.
The SMASH 3000, Smartshooter’s lightest handheld-operated fire control system, incorporates AI, computer vision, and advanced tracking algorithms to help forces detect, track, and engage both aerial and ground targets.
In addition, the delivered system includes a real-time target sharing capability among soldiers, facilitated through Smartshooter’s proprietary operational platform.
Smartshooter Australia & New Zealand Territory director Lachlan Mercer said: “The recently fulfilled order marks a strategic breakthrough into the Australian market after significant appraisal of SMASH Fire Control by the ADF, with potential for follow-on purchases in other programs. This further extends SMARTSHOOTER’s established presence in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The SMASH family of fire control systems is being deployed by forces in the US, Israel, the UK, Europe, and other NATO countries.
The product line includes options for handheld use, remote operation, and deployment on unmanned ground vehicles.

The contract in Australia follows an order for several hundred SMASH 3000 systems from an Asia-Pacific customer in August 2025.
